Unpacking the 'No:' Navigating Family Resistance (KINUTK043024)


Description
This half day, virtual instructor-led training provides participants with strategies to establish and strengthen trust with youth, families and kin while recognizing the challenges of ambivalence and resistance. Participants will explore the impact of resistance on involvement and learn effective methods for engaging and supporting the youth and families they serve. By the end of the session, participants will have actionable strategies to foster positive engagement, overcome barriers, and create a trusting environment for youth, caregivers and families.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this training, participants will be able to: 

(1) Recognize importance of trust and identify strategies to build it
(2) Identify ambivalence and resistance from relatives and youth
(3) Explain how ambivalence and resistance impact involvement
(4) Identify strategies to navigate youth resistance for transition to a kinship caregiver

Who Should Attend? 
Child Welfare Caseworkers/Social Workers, Supervisors, Managers, Directors, and Administrators; other system partners serving children and families 

This is an instructor-led course. Going through the units will lead you to register for the live training event session, which is hosted on Microsoft Teams.
