This training experience provides foundational information about creating social safety for youth and the impact of supportive caregiving. Participants will learn to recognize the ways in which youth are unique and demonstrate acceptance for youth using a nonjudgmental manner. The session will discuss the impact of bias, myths, and misinformation on developing youth; recognize the impact of rejection and acceptance by family and/or community on young people who express themselves differently and operationalize more supportive social service practices.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
(1) Recognize the unique ways in which youth identify themselves
(2) Discuss the impact of bias, myths, and misinformation on developing youth
(3) Recognize the impact of rejection and acceptance by family and/or community on young people who express themselves differently than the norm
(4) Learn ways to implement more supportive social service practices
